Do you want to change lives?
Then come out to Old Sacramento Saturday, Sept. 27 to celebrate Be a Fan Sacramento!
OUR GOAL
Raise $150,000 to provide training and competition opportunities for more than 3,000 athletes in the Greater Sacramento area in 2009.
HOW
THREE FUN WAYS!
Be a Fan of Fitness - Fun Run & Walk
The day kicks off with a 5K/10K community run along the Sacramento River. Run or walk beside our Special Olympic athletes as they vie for advancement to the Northern California Long Distance Running and Walking Championship this fall. Get in a good morning workout, a “fan” T-shirt and feel good knowing your entry fee supports your local Special Olympic athletes.
Sign up for the Fun Run and Walk!
Be a Fan of Good Taste – Tasting Tour of Old Sac
Purchase a Tasting Passport to benefit Special Olympics, and “taste” your way through local restaurants, cafes, coffee houses, ice cream parlors and candy shops.
Be a Fan of Fun – 4th Annual Great Sacramento Duck Race
The Great Sacramento Duck Race is back for a fourth year! Up to 20,000 rubber ducks will be ceremoniously dumped off the I Street Bridge and race to the Tower Bridge in hope of winning up to $10,000 in cash and prizes.
WHY
Special Olympics is free to our athletes and families but we need your help. Special Olympic athletes perform better at school, at work and at home. They are more likely to live independently, hold a job, participate in community activities and develop close friendships. More than 13,000 athletes train and compete year-round in 19 Olympic Sports. With your help we can reach many more people with developmental disabilites.
If you are a fan of fitness, good taste, and fun, then you may already be a fan of Special Olympics. Make it official and join us at Be a Fan™ Sacramento!
